"ELLOS", Archetype suspended between parody and tragedy.

From April 2nd to April 6th, Italian-Argentine artist Mariano Franzetti presents "ELLOS", showcasing a series of sculptures, ceramics and paintings featuring a strange and grotesque community of characters.

Mariano Franzetti interprets figurative art in a modern key, with contemporary subjects belonging to the real world, arranged in tableau vivants filled with symbolism and allusions.

The grotesque in a fashion version - “ugly but cool” - of the Trickynauta series is a free flow that takes the form of figures with distorted expressions and movements, never at ease nor perfectly placed in space.

These subjects, with irregular and exaggerated features, lie somewhere between the horrific and the caricatural, but precisely because of this they exemplify an unconventional beauty, far from the canons imposed over time in art, which well reflects the contradictions of today's reality.

An extravagant, dissimilar visual universe pervaded with irony and disenchantment.

The artist's marvelous losers stand out on drawings, polychrome paintings or large tapestries in pop tones, or take shape in bas-reliefs and sculptures, in bronze, single or arranged in groups, stacked to compose rather precarious-looking pyramids.

Engaged in the most disparate activities, fixed in vain poser attitudes in equivocal positions, often mimicking the typical topoi of classical iconography.

ABOUT MARIANO FRANZETTI

An eclectic path between Argentina and Italy, between architecture, art and fashion. After his initial studies in architecture, Mariano moved to Buenos Aires to devote himself completely to his passion, painting, which he cultivated from an early age by studying Renaissance painters and art in general.

He then moved to Italy, in the Marche region where he immediately began working as an artist in collaboration with an architecture and interior design studio.

Later in Milan, he further develops his career as an artist and creative director.

His works are characterized by chromatic research, bright and bold tones, and grotesque images and motifs.

A universe consisting of seemingly playful fantasies, extravagant narratives, unusual and fascinating atmospheres, which leave a mark on the viewers, arousing different emotions and moods.

His works do not focus on precise themes, but range widely, also depending on what Mariano wants to portray, while always keeping man at the center.

Intrigued by human beings, their vicissitudes and varied facets, within his works one often finds eccentric, “different,” deformed characters, not only in their clothing, hairstyles, shapes and features, but also in their lifestyles, cultures and personalities.
